Courgis is from a single vineyard on the left bank with clay topsoil on top of Kimmeridgian limestone bedrock. It’s typically the most weighty (think ripe, round fruit) of the Terroir wines. Fermented and aged in tank.
The 2019 Chablis Terroir de Courgis is superb, unwinding to reveal notions of green apple, white flowers, freshly baked bread, clear honey and iodine. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, it’s tightly wound, with real depth at the core and a long, saline finish. This gets my nod as Piuze’s finest communal bottling this year, and it’s one that will merit at least a few years’ patience. Wine Advocate – 91+
