Ca’ Marcanda Magari 2015


Magari means if only it were true!, an expression used often in Italian to express desire, hope, and a vision of a bright future.

Bright and deep color. The nose is rich and concentrated, it starts fresh to then develop balsamic notes, and scents of graphite, juniper and liquorice. Then it turns into a more mellow character with dark fruit and rhubarb. The palate is sweet and voluminous, with notes of mulberry and sour cherry. Fine-grained, silky tannins. Long-lasting, sapid final.

Ca’Marcanda CAMARCANDA 2009


The flagship wine, the 2009 Bolgheri Camarcanda, is a blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and a small component of Cabernet Franc. Perhaps inspired by the elegance and finesse of Nebbiolo, Angelo has miraculously applied those traits to the exuberant winemaking world of coastal Tuscany. This blended red shows enormous attention to detail with sharp and focused aromas of black inky, polished river stone, blackberry and spice. The mouthfeel is firm with soft fruity layers at the back. You can count on a wide drinking window.

Château de Pez 2009


The Château de Pez winery remains resolutely faithful to wood. The blend is composed in December, then the wine is stored in barrels (40% new wood, 40% in “Premier vin” casks and 20% in “Deuxième vin” casks) and racked every three months. It is to be noted that the wine undergoes absolutely no filtration.

Château de Pez exhibits deep colour and harmonious composition. This complete, rich, dense wine merits prolonged ageing.

Our top wine is matured for an average of 14 months in our superb barrel store (40-60% new oak depending on the vintage). Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot make up the majority of the blend, with the proportions varying from one year to the next. They are supplemented by Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The estate’s wines go into gravity-fed vats and undergo vinification with a partially gravity-based system, which is more sensitive to the integrity and subtleties of the grapes and the wine.

Cignale 2012


90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. The wine ages in barriques for 20-24 months and the bottle for six months. Cignale is deep, dark ruby in color. Very floral and beautiful with hints of dark fruit, black currant, and violets.

Clos Mogador 2015


On the nose it is both complex and pleasing with aromas of ripe red and black fruits which marry perfectly with the notes of liquorice and chocolate. On the elegant, beautifully dense palate, we can detect hints of spiciness overlaid with smoky, peppery woodiness. The tannins are persistent and tightly knit with a finesse which allows an astonishingly prolonged aftertaste. This is a thoroughbred of a wine encompassing elegant, enduring qualities. Although quite magnificent now, if you can hide it away somewhere for a few years, you will not be disappointed!

Tasting notes

A wine of the aromatic intensity and silkiness of texture was something rather unexpected in such a hot vintage as the 2011. The Merlot gave sweetness of flavor, density of texture, and a very intense aroma of black fruit. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributed an exceptional richness along with additional black fruit aromas, liquorice, and not the slightest hint of greenness. Cabernet Franc added a magnificent balance and poise, smoothing the elevated tannic power of the other varieties and, finally, the Petit Verdot supplied that light touch of spice which completed the bouquet. This is a concentrated wine, one of great class and elegance, a wine capable of a very lengthy aging and positive evolution in the bottle.

The 2015 Guado al Tasso is characterized by a rich and complex bouquet with notes of tobacco, toasted coffee, and leather which fuse with the aromas of ripe berry fruit. The palate is a vibrant one, with both tannins and freshness well present to give savor and persistence. The finish and aftertaste are spicy and fruity, complete and fragrant. It is a vintage which a very important aging potential.

A very intense ruby red with purple highlights, the 2013 Solaia shows aromas of ripe red fruit, pleasurably fresh and vibrant, accompanied by balsamic sensation of liquorice and mint. Hints of vanilla and smoke on the aromatic close fuse with an intense spiciness to create a powerful impact. The palate, initially elegant, becomes full bodied with tannins of much shape and solidity.
