The 2014 Muffato della Sala shows a lively and brilliant golden yellow color. The nose is intense and complex with perceptible notes of citrus fruit along with delicate sensations of peaches, dried apricots, and saffron. The palate is enveloping, but not to excess, with light notes of iodine and a very long continuity and persistence. Although still young, it is balanced, a wine destined to evolve over time and increase its aromatic complexity.
“Ripeness and equilibrium are the two qualities that can best describe Ornellaia 2009. Born from a vintage which began cool then turned hot, it was necessary to take painstaking care during harvest in order to preserve the grapes’ crisp acidity and aromatic complexity. The wine’s fragrances are generous and cleanly-defined, with rich, well-ripened fruit, complemented by chocolate and balsamic notes of aromatic herbs. On the palate, silky-smooth and spacious, with glossy tannins. A lively, refreshing acidity lifts a lingering finish.”

The 2016 Pèppoli is ruby red in color. Intensely fruity notes of cherries and red currants dominate on the nose along with integrated hints of violets and a light touch of toasted oak. The palate, fresh and savory with supple tannins, shows a finish and aftertaste which recall the sensations first felt on the nose.
The 2013 Pian della Vigne shows a brilliant ruby red color. The nose is delicate and complex with notes of ripe fruit, cherries, and plums, perfectly balanced with sensations of dried and candied fruit and spices. The palate is ample with supple tannins and is enlivened by a note of vibrant acidity with fully brings out the intense persistence and pleasure of its aromas. The finish offers hints of tobacco, dark chocolate, and berry fruit. An extremely elegant and bracingly savory wine of great finesse.
The Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino aims to fully bring out the fragrance of pure Sangiovese, the historic grape variety of Montalcino. The vineyards are situated on calcareous clay soils which create a wine which is fresh, mineral in character, and excellent drinking.
